Workshop floor — failed and repaired hex panels

Operating method

Fail fast.Fix first.

Same mission as the August guide: structure Grok in its entirety, in the open, so someone else can continue. v5 is the walk we actually use. The promise did not change. Fail fast and fix first still sit under Correct. The four moves below are the sitting. They do not produce the ship. A ship is the file or the page that leaves after the sitting is declared one.

  1. 01

    Ground

What is actually in front of us. One sitting, one job. Talk stays talk until the job needs a write, a route, a score, or a ship.

  2. 02

    Verify

Check it live. A plan page, a skill list, or a memory note from last month is not a record until you open it again.

  3. 03

    Correct

Fix the broken layer before you add a new one. Incomplete beats fake-complete. Leave the failed piece in view. Correct does not ship.

  4. 04

    Predict

Say what you expect the next pass to show. Then test it. The human makes the call. The model does not.

August record — kept

“I turned the persistent memory inside the Grok app into my conversational tone, and from there I wrote all 50 skills inside the workspace to communicate with it.”

Field note · August 2026

“Customization solves uniformity, which is exactly what Grok is designed for.”

Field note · August 2026

“All that can be fixed. It won’t be fast enough for anybody, but it can be fixed. And I’m pretty confident that it will be.”

Field note · August 2026

“So it’s crude but it’s kind of fun. I can polish it up when my limits reset later.”

What the current walk uses

  • 01

    Two memories, not one

Chat memory is the conversational tone. Build memory is project notes on disk, read back next session. The Hive updates the right drawer. It does not dump both into the chat.

  • 02

    Skills are a product now

A skill is a repeated task, taught once. An agent is a persona. The August guide treated skills as prompts you paste. They still can be. The product also ships them, and yours override the built-in.

  • 03

Build is a mode, not a personality

If the sitting is talk, do not build. If the job is an app, a page, or a tool, Build is on the plan ladder — usage differs by tier. Early on it was Heavy-only. That limit was lifted.

  • 04

    Fail fast, fix first

Still the house rule. Ship the crude version while it is honest. Correct before you expand. All of it can be fixed. It will not be fast enough for anybody.

  • 05

    Public iteration

The method is not a private doctrine. Shared files stay free of private names. Honest history — not popularity. Support original creators.

  • 06

    One sitting, one job

Ground, verify, correct, predict. Then stop. A working stack beats a plan that names every future room. Growth is the goal. Thinking is the process.
